Amazing Indian restaurant in Trincomale, the food is good, quick, the owner is a crack and he speaks very good English I had a masala dosa and idle next day

We had dinner at Lakshmi Restaurant in the evening. Pros first: it’s very cheap, really affordable, and the food was actually very tasty — no complaints there. Definitely good value for money. But the cons… it was extremely noisy (probably normal for the region, but still tiring), and there were insects buzzing around — even ended up in my soup, which wasn’t great. The chairs were honestly the most uncomfortable I’ve ever sat on in a restaurant, really not nice at all. And then there was the aquarium: huge fish in a tiny tank. I’m vegetarian and don’t usually care about aquariums, but that just felt wrong. So overall: tasty and cheap, but with a few things that took away the joy. Three stars.

Hands down one of the best places to eat vegetarian foods in Trincomalee. We got idly and ulundu wadei. They gave us a mix of curries as well. The price was very budget friendly. Food was very tasty. Specially the Ulundu Wadei. It was made from original "Ulundu" flour. With the curries, taste was exceptional. Our tummys were full. The shopkeeper was also friendly. Although he was tamil speaking, he communicated us in good Sinhala and asked us "Athida" (Was it enough) "Bada pirunada" (Is your tummy full). Definietly recommend this place for any visitors from other areas of Sri Lanka if you want to try the local cuisine.
