**Caution tourist trap:** The ambiance is very inviting. However, the portions are very, very small, the pasta is greasy, barely seasoned, the shrimp are cooked to a rubbery texture, and the prices are completely overpriced. Slow service and an extremely unfriendly reaction from the owner. Absolutely below standard and a tourist rip-off! Unfortunately, we fell for it.

Disappointed and Frustrated – Not Worth the Price or the Attitude I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience truly warrants one. My mom and I visited this restaurant in Nilaveli and ordered the tuna steak and a salad to share. When it arrived, the waiter referred to it as the tuna steak, and we split it across two plates. However, after just one bite each, it was immediately clear that what we’d been served was not tuna but a completely different white fish. We informed the staff right away. While the waiter said he would check with the kitchen, he didn’t seem too concerned. We politely suggested they just switch the white fish (which we barely touched) for the tuna steak we had originally ordered and keep the sides, just to make it easy for them. We’d already waited over an hour for our food, and were starving - so we started eating the sides while waiting for a response. After another 15 minutes, the waiter returned and casually told us that they had “mixed up the plates” with another table. Fine - mistakes happen. But when we asked again if we could just get the actual tuna steak we had ordered and paid for, he flatly said no. Frankly, this is unacceptable. If I’m paying local prices, I understand getting local service standards and wouldn’t complain. But when a restaurant charges foreign/inflated prices, I at least expect a basic level of professionalism and decency in how they handle their mistakes. We weren’t offered a solution, not even an apology. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and completely uninterested in making things right. Do not recommend this place - not for the food, not for the service, and definitely not for the inflated prices paired with such poor treatment. There are plenty of better places to eat in Nilaveli that actually value their guests.

Coffee was ok but I would NOT recommend eating here. The fruit salad was basically a bowl of ice cream with a few bits of fruit in it. The ice cream was not advertised on the menu and when we said we didn’t want ice cream they brought us some fruit that was left over from the buffet (ie covered in flies) and tried to charge us extra, no reimbursement for the ice cream fruit salad we didn’t want. The chicken salad was tiny and all the chicken was burn to crisp. Extremely over priced. Service was long.

Little oasis with a private beach access! Memos Café provides something that is hard to find in Sri Lanka - a good cappuccino 😊 You can feel the attention to detail in each aspect of the cafe and the attached boutique hotel.

We enjoyed super delicious italian pasta and nice drinks. The prices are really fair, as the portions are quite big. The manager is super friendly. He offered cookies for our little daughter and also made her a big portion of plain pasta for free. The restaurant is really nice decorated and the beach area is beautiful. We totally recommend this place. They also offer kids toys 👍👍👍 Perfect for families.
